After a loss in front of a sellout Independence Day crowd, the Cleveland Indians won over the Kansas City Royals decisively 7-3 in in front of a crowd of 24,481. In a victory powered as much by Lonnie Chisenhall as by a clutch RBI single by Swisher, the IBI's John Grimm discusses both Chisenhall's success in perspective as well as the situation of T.J. House, whose Quality Start may have - deservedly - condemned him to AAA in the short-term.

Jake Lowery took a a 2-2 fastball to the face the night of April 18, and he’s still feeling the effects. The pitch fractured three of Lowery’s facial bones and sidelined him for six weeks. It didn’t, however, shatter his season. The IBI's Stephanie Metzger recently sat down to talk to the Akron backstop and provides an update on how he is doing post-injury and how his season is going.

Independence Day 2014 has come and gone, and with it, another occasion for hype that has collapsed under the weight of a blowout loss. On Friday, that loss came at the hands of the Royals as Josh Tomlin took a 7-1 loss. The IBI's John Grimm, in the spirit of the NBA off-season, discusses Josh Tomlin's contract situation going forward, and notes the substantial risk and possible benefits of signing the Tommy John survivor to a long-term deal within the context of his upcoming arbitration awards

Just call him, Ace Ventura. It didn't take much for Royals starter Yordano Ventura to solve a stagnant Indians offense Friday night. Holding the Tribe to just one run over 8 1/3 innings, Kansas City cruised to a 7-1 victory in the series opener of a three-game weekend series. Join IBI Indians beat reporter Jim Berdysz as he recaps the game from the ballpark.

The name of the game is patience. No wait, that was last night's theme. Anyway, Kieran Lovegrove rewarded anyone who has been patient with him Thursday night, tossing five no-hit innings and showing flashes of why he was a highly regarded third round pick in 2012. He was joined by Claudio Bautista, who will also need some patience in the future as he learns to be more selective at the plate. Join Jim Piascik as takes you Around the Farm, breaking down Lovegrove and Bautista's nights in addition to recapping all the action throughout the organization.

The International Signing Period kicked off on Tuesday. As with every year it brings a high-paced amount of signings that have been agreed on for weeks or months, and also brings with it a lot of questions as many don't understand how it works. It is often not easy for young players to adjust to pro ball and for some it can take a few seasons before they settle in and really begin to make some progress. The IBI's Stephanie Metzger recently caught up with him to talk about his season and also recaps the week that was for the Captains...

It is really hard to be patient for any stretch of time. Like waiting for Christmas as a child -- or even now for Jim Piascik, the wait for the final Hobbit movie -- is unbearable (same for the waits leading up to the first two, for that matter). But it is absolutely vital to be patient to a fault with prospects, especially ones with the talent of Mitch Brown and Carlos Moncrief. Join Jim as he breaks down Brown's turnaround, the recent resurgence of Moncrief, and much more as he takes you Around the Farm.

For years Justin Verlander has been the “ace,” of the Detroit Tigers and one of the best starting pitchers in baseball, however it has been a struggle for the former Cy Young the last two years. He got core muscle surgery in January and has not been the same ever since. In 17 starts this season Verlander is 6-7 with a 4.80 ERA and only 85 strikeouts. This would be his 3rd worse ERA of his career.
