With their 12th round pick in the 2012 MLB Draft the Cleveland Indians select catcher Jeremy Lucas out of Indiana St. University.

Birthdate: January 10, 1991--Height: 6'1"--Weight: 205--Bats: Right--Throws: Right

Baseball America: 264
Perfect Game: 367

Jeff Ellis: Jeremy Lucas was one of the three big catchers in the state of Indiana. He has a good pedigree as he was the 35th round pick of the Orioles out of high school.  He has always been able to hit while in school, and I think that this is his best tool.  He added some power this year to his swing hitting 9 home runs, and was able to do well when he matched up against other draft prospects.  There had been questions about his defense, but there was definite improvement this year, and while he only threw out 24 percent of runners, most everyone thinks he will stay there. He needs work, but here is a talented catcher with a good bat who projects to be an offensive backup catcher who might end up a starter. His bat is what is going to get him to the majors. Another nice, pick this late in the draft.

Extra info: Joe Carter MVC Player of the Year...Johnny Bench Award semifinalist...Hit .350 with 13 doubles, two triples and nine home runs, 52 runs batted in and 52 runs (.445OB%).
