2012 Indians minor league quarterly review

I recently had a chance to sit down with Indians’ Assistant Director of Player Development Carter Hawkins and kind of get a quarterly assessment of some players in the system. I focused the discussion more on some guys that are not talked about as often or maybe came into the season lower on the prospect totem pole than some guys.

On Cord Phelps: “Cord played a lot of different positions last year at shortstop [in Columbus] and also third base in the fall league, so we felt like we wanted to give him a chance to play every day at one position this year and he has done that at second base so far. Hopefully that enables him to continue his consistency offensively but also find some consistency on the defensive side...
