2013 Indians 11th round pick: RHP Adam Plutko
In the 11th round of the 2013 Draft the Cleveland Indians select right-handed pitcher Adam Plutko out of UCLA.
Born: 10/03/1991 - Height: 6'3" - Weight: 195 - Bats: Right - Throws: Right
Keith Law: 77th
Baseball America: 179th
Perfect Game: 180th
Jeff Ellis: Adam Plutko, much like Bobby Wahl, might be regretting his choice to not sign out of high school when he was offered a seven digit bonus. Both were viewed as possible first rounders going into the year and both fell. Plutko is the biggest name the Indians have drafted since Frazier and the best regarded talent. This might have been the plan all along to go under slot on picks 2-10 or right at slot to save money and use this picks which have zero effect on your pool to take a few gambles. Plutko is a pitcher who is basically defined. He throws strikes but not hard and has solid secondary stuff but nothing that is plus. He is a backend starter, but the odds of him getting there are extremely good. If you can sign him it is much cheaper than paying what it costs to get a fifth starter in free agency. Myers cost the Indians eight million this year. There is always value in a near ready, safe arm.
