With their 35th round pick in the 2014 Draft the Cleveland Indians have selected third baseman Joseph Dunand out of Gulliver Prep High School (FL).

Born: 9/20/1995 – Height: 6’3” – Weight: 190 – Bats: Right – Throws: Right

Jeff Ellis: Joseph Dunand is a 6’2” shortstop who the Indians had listed as a third baseman. Well the biggest news tied to him is the fact his uncle is Alex Rodriquez. He also burst onto the scene this year when he hit seven home runs in seven at bats, which was a massive spike for a kid who hit just two home runs as a junior. Dunand has good bat speed and a nice fluid swing with natural strength. He is committed to NC State, which should make him a tough sign this late. Dunand is a legit prospect whose uncle is just a fun note. Here is a kid who should be a good defender at third with some power and what looks like a solid hit tool. Since he comes from a family of some means and has a commitment to a good division one program he has been often viewed as a tough sign.
