Altoona Curve outfielder Willy Garcia was hit-less in his last eight at bats, including five strikeouts; however, in the bottom of the ninth inning, he made-up for his poor start with a walk off, solo home run off of Tyler Sturdevant to seal the victory for the Curve 4-3 over the Akron RubberDucks. The loss drops the RubberDucks to below .500 for the season (2-3).

On Sunday the Indians completed a trade with the Dodgers acquiring right-handed pitcher Duke von Schamann in exchange for left-handed pitcher Colt Hynes. Less then 24 hours later the Indians completed a trade with the Orioles acquiring infielder/outfielder Torsten Boss in exchange for right-handed pitcher Preston Guilmet.

The Akron RubberDucks rallied late, but fell just short losing 5-4 to the Binghamton Mets on Sunday to split the season opening series. In his season debut, starter Will Roberts made his return to the RubberDucks after a rocky 2013 season started 2014 much better giving Akron a good opportunity to come away with a win, but fell just short.

After missing out on Friday action due to weather, the Akron RubberDucks split a double header with the Binghamton Mets Saturday. Akron lost 6-3 in the first game, but took a 3-0 shutout in game No. 2. Toru Murata tossed five shutout innings of three-hit ball to highlight the day.

Carlos Ramirez tripled home D.J. Davis in the top half of the fourth inning to add an insurance run en route to a 8-2 Lugnuts victory. Ramirez later scored in the inning on a ground out. Lansing led 7-1 after four innings.

Carlos Santana, deeply entrenched in a competition with Lonnie Chisenhall to win the everyday third baseman job, made his case Tuesday, helping the Indians run away with a 12-7 win at the expense of the San Diego Padres. Not only did Santana blast a two-run home run in the first inning, the catcher-turned-utility man looked very comfortable at third base and made two exceptional plays in the process.
