With six games left in the season, Manny Acta's firing Thursday came as a surprise to many. The Indians now find themselves back at square one as there is no definitive long term answer for the team's managerial vacancy. Knowing that, are the Indians better off with or without Acta? IPI's Steve Orbanek ponders after the jump.

Facing a left-hander Tuesday, it did not seem promising for the Cleveland Indians. However, the Tribe was able to capitalize off a big three-run fourth inning and then held on for the win. Also, Russ Canzler stayed hot and hit his second home run in as many days. IPI's Steve Orbanek offers his Second Thoughts after the jump.

Given the way that the Indians season has gone, it's hard to talk about moral victories, but the Indians got a big one yesterday. With the team's 15-4 win over the Kansas City Royals, the Indians improved to 63-90 and are now assured that they will not lose 100 games this season. IPI's Steve Orbanek offers his Second Thoughts after the jump.

Fast forward to 2012 and Rondon is no longer the prospect he once was. What does the future hold for Rondon? IPI's Steve Orbanek offers his take in this week's edition of Then & Now.

With Lake County already advancing in the playoffs, the Akron Aeros were the lone Indians affiliate in action Friday night. With the Aeros potentially facing elimination, the team desperately needed someone to step up. Thankfully that's exactly what they got in the form of Danny Salazar. With their record at 58-79, the Indians have become difficult to watch for many fans. With only 25 games left to play, interest in the Tribe seems to be waning each day. However, IPI's Steve Orbanek suggests that fans should look at these final 25 games in a different light to find some possible enjoyment.

Things did not look good for the Indians Tuesday night. It had been nearly a month since the Tribe has last won back-to-back games and nearly three months since the team won back-to-back games on the road. Plus, after losing 29 of their last 25 games, who could favor the Indians anyhow? Yet, somehow the Indians won and improved their record to 9-5 against the Tigers this season. Steve Orbanek offers some second thoughts on what went wrong and right for the Tribe in this one.

With the minor league season quickly coming to a close, prospects are trying to leave a lasting impression. That's exactly what T.J. McFarland did Friday as the left-hander hurled a gem in leading the Clippers to a win. Also, Russ Canzler went into beast mode in what likely may be be his last game in a Clippers uniform. Plus, Jesus Aguilar continues to do his thing with the Aeros. All this and more as IPI's Steve Orbanek takes you Around the Farm.

With the minor league season rapidly drawing to a close, many players are attempting to close out the season on a high note. One such player would be Jesus Aguilar, whose performances continue to improve since being promoted to Double-A. Plus, Brett Brach has really been stellar as of late, and that remained the case on Tuesday. But could be possibly eventually be a Major League option? And what about this Dorssys Paulino character? Is he finally started to get a handle since his promotion to Mahoning Valley? All this and more as IPI's Steve Orbanek takes you Around the Farm.

For as outstanding as Jordan Smith has been this season for the Captains, there has really only been one criticism: power or lack thereof. However, on Friday, the left-handed hitting Smith put together a "powerful" performance. Plus, Jacob Lee continues to impress for the Scrappers, and Jesus Aguilar hits his second bomb in three games. All this and more as IPI's Steve Orbanek takes you Around the Farm.

With the Indians in the midst of an 8-game losing streak, whispers can be heard that Manny Acta could soon be gone as the Indians' skipper. Acta even addressed that issue following the Indians 3-1 defeat to Seattle Wednesday. But IPI's Steve Orbanek believes that Acta should not shoulder all the blame, and he even gives Acta his own vote of confidence.

Ronny Rodriguez continues to play above his head at High-A Carolina. On Tuesday night, the 20-year-old infielder launched his 17th home run of the 2012 campaign. Plus, Tim Fedroff finally starts to get out of his recent funk by putting together a solid two-hit performance with the Clippers. Jesus Aguilar also seems to be starting to pick up steam with the Aeros, and Hector Rondon makes his return to the mound for the first time in almost a year. All this and more as IPI's Steve Orbanek takes you Around the Farm after the jump.

For much of the year, Danny Salazar has been held to a very strict pitch count. Fresh off of Tommy John surgery, the Indians obviously want to be cautious of the young right-hander's innings count. On Friday, however, Salazar might have just pitched his best start yet. Plus, Thomas Neal continues to annihilate Double-A pitching. All this and more as IPI's Steve Orbanek takes you Around the Farm after the jump.

Who is the top shortstop prospect in the Tribe's farm system? With every passing day, Dorssys Paulino is making a case that he deserves to be right up there with Francisco Lindor. Tuesday was no different as the 17-year-old Paulino might have just had his best offensive performance yet. Plus, the New York-Penn League hosted its 2012 All-Star Game, and a slew of Scrappers were there to participate. IPI's Steve Orbanek takes you Around the Farm after the jump...
