The IBI's Michael Hattery often finds himself spending the majority of his time trying to pick holes in the Indians roster that could eventually be their downfall or equalizing force. Attempting to find players who are so far outplaying their capability that regression both as a player and as a team is inevitable. This is not to say he is not thoroughly enjoying every moment of Tribe baseball but merely that he is hesitant to heap unfair expectations on this exciting and altogether exuberant team. In this week's Trend Spotting feature he touches on the play of Drew Stubbs and some concerns at third base.

In the second week of May one thing is clear, Mark Reynolds was one of the five best acquisitions in baseball this past offseason. Just based on WAR value to date, Reynolds’ 1.3 wins would be worth $6.3 million dollars. More importantly, Reynolds has been one of the best players in baseball through the first month which raises a few questions that should be addressed: how long will this rate of production continue, should the Indians extend him, at what cost, and how will his line look at the end of the season? The IBI's Michael Hattery touches on that as well as a few other topics!

It was another quiet night down on the farm thanks to two rain outs that washed away the games for Carolina and Lake County, but there were some very good and some not so good performances at Columbus and Akron on Friday night. Trevor Bauer had another great outing, Jesus Aguilar continues to pile up RBI, and more!

When the Indians, first acquired Ubaldo Jimenez, the IBI's Michael Hattery was a gung ho believer in his abilities at the top of the rotation and thought that his struggles early in 2011 where just sample size issues, nothing to be concerned about. But what he has witnessed so far with Jimenez has been a complete unraveling of talent as a major-league starter. Michael takes a deeper look into Jimenez to see if there is any hope for him this season.

On the night the Indians traded Shin-Soo Choo to the Reds for a deal that included Trevor Bauer and Drew Stubbs, the IBI's Michael Hattery was elated with the Bauer acquisition but did not know what to thing of the Stubbs pick up. After some time to think about it, one thing struck him as interesting, that being they were two high ceiling players being given up on by their draft teams a little too soon and that Stubbs could be in for a comeback season.
