For only the second time since August 17th the Indians offense scored more than five runs. Led by Yan Gomes, Jason Kipnis, Mike Aviles, and Ryan Raburn the team tallied ten hits in the rubber game of a huge three game set against the Baltimore Orioles. This was the team’s last chance to deliver a loss to one of their wildcard competitors and the team’s offense responded with a big performance. The Indians offensive funk in August continued on Wednesday night as the Indians lost in heartbreak fashion on a walkoff hit in the bottom of the ninth. Once again the pitching way there for the Indians in a game that with just another hit here or there they could have won it. The IBI's Michael Goodman provides his second thoughts on a frustrating loss.

The Indians were able to complete a much needed three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday with a strong pitching performance from Justin Masterson and a great relief effort by Rich Hill, Cody Allen, and Chris Perez picking up his 20th save on the season. The IBI's Michael Goodman takes a brief look at the game, but then dissects the remaining schedules for all the AL playoff contenders.

On the heels of the two most disappointing series of the year, the Indians entered Wednesday's game with the Twins hoping to secure a series win and gain some momentum. It did not look good early, but they somehow managed to comeback and win the game and series and now move onto Oakland for a big three game set in a Wildcard showdown. After dropping two straight deflating games to the Tigers, the Indians turned to Danny Salazar to try to get some of their mojo back. The kid took the hill and was sensational in his second career start punching out 10 Tiger hitters and going 7.2 innings before making a big mistake to Miguel Cabrera. Prince Fielder later did the Tribe in and they are now 0-3 in this series, and the IBI's Michael Goodman shares his second thoughts...

With the trade deadline now in the rearview mirror the Indians pulled out another dramatic come from behind win over the White Sox by a score of 6-5 on Wednesday night. Carlos Santana was the hero with the walkoff homer in extras and Corey Kluber once again had another very good start. The Indians enter August as the leader for a wildcard spot! The Indians needed this one and they got it by absolutely dominating the Mariners on the mound and at the plate in a 10-1 win. Michael Bourn had the big blow with a grand slam, and Scott Kazmir continues to pitch like the Kazmir of five years ago. The IBI's Michael Goodman shares his "second thoughts" on a much needed Tribe win...

The second half of the season kicks off tonight! This means that the games are going to increasingly become more important as the weeks go by and the Indians look to keep pace with the Detroit Tigers in American League Central. One aspect of the team that has been consistent this season has been the offense, and the IBI's Michael Goodman looks at how each position player has performed to date and provides his expectations for the second half.

With the trade deadline looming the Indians are said to be extremely active in trade discussion to improve the current team. Reports have linked the Indians to nearly every big-name presumed available starting pitcher and they’re also said to be on the lookout for relief help. That’s an expensive proposition, which may mean the Indians may have a need to look internally for players that can shore up the pitching staff. The IBI's Michael Goodman looks at those internal options they may turn to in the second half...

In the spring the IBI's Michael Goodman profiled five players that he felt were keys to the Indians season. These were the guys that he labeled that the team needed to step forward if the team wanted to compete in 2013. Those five players were Justin Masterson, Ubaldo Jimenez, Jason Kipnis, Carlos Santana, and Lonnie Chisenhall, and with the season now just past the halfway point, he reviews how each player is doing.

Two things dominated the pre-game commentary for this game. The first being the major league debut of Danny Salazar, and the second being the chance to grab a series win against Toronto as the All-Star break approaches. As it turns out, Salazar was sensational and the Indians came away with a much needed 4-2 win. The IBI's Michael Goodman shares his "second thoughts" on the game...

After yet another bullpen implosion, Cleveland found itself on the losing end of a winnable game. Poor pitching from the pen, some untimely bad defense, and some missed opportunities early and late in the game offensively cost Cleveland. Justin Masterson also struggled, though Terry Francona leaving him in too long hints at a larger problme. Join Michael Goodman as he gives his Second Thoughts on Wednesday's loss.

The Indians entered this game trying to win a series in which they blew the first game late and came back late in the second game to steal the win. At 35-35 a win would get them back over the .500 mark and mark their third straight series win. So there was a lot riding on this game and the team came through, led by Justin Masterson and Michael Brantley. Join Michael Goodman as he gives his Second Thoughts on the big win.

A series win! That’s something the Indians haven’t been able to claim in a three game series since the May 17-20 sweep of the Seattle Mariners. Ubaldo Jimenez made it interesting at times and there were still some issues at the plate, but a win is a win. Ubaldo made it through alright, the bullpen held it down, and the offense scored just enough. Join Michael Goodman as he gives his Second Thoughts on Wednesday's game.

The Indians were swept out of Broadway on Wednesday, losing to the Yankees 6-4 in an afternoon tilt. Corey Kluber struggled early and then pitched well the rest of the way, but former Indians lefty CC Sabathia led the way with a complete game win for the Yankees. The Indians are reeling and have now lost 12 of their last 16 games, and get set for an important series with the Tigers this weekend. The IBI's Michael Goodman shares his second thoughts on the game...

This Indians entered this game really struggling. They’d lost five straight for the second time this season and in the midst of a tough stretch of games that included two more games against a Cincinnati Reds team that has been as hot as the Indians are cold. The good news is that ace Justin Masterson took the hill to stop the losing streak and Jason Giambi came through with a big hit. Join Michael Goodman as he gives his Second Thoughts on Wednesday's win.

Looking to gain a series split against division rival Detroit, the Indians entered Wednesday’s game hoping for a repeat of their May 11 game against the Tigers, where Ubaldo Jimenez outdueled Justin Verlander en route to a 7-6 win. That was not the case, however, as Jimenez struggled and Cleveland lost. Join Michael Goodman as he gives his Second Thoughts on the defeat and how worried he is after bad Ubaldo showed up Wednesday night.

The Indians had either won or tied eight straight series heading into Wednesday’s game against the Phillies. Needing a win to keep that streak alive, the Indians relied on Corey Kluber, who was coming off a start in which he gave up eight runs in only 4.2 innings against the Detroit Tigers. Philadelphia starter Cole Hamels made his second career start against the Indians and faced a lineup that was without starters Michael Bourn and Michael Brantley. Join Michael Goodman as he gives his Second Thoughts on the win.

The Indians entered Wednesday’s game on a three-game winning streak, outscoring their opponents 33-5 in that span. For seemingly the first time all season the team has been able to get their offense and pitching staff on track at the same time. Bauer was not perfect Wednesday, but he kept the Phillies off of the board and Cleveland won again. Join Michael Goodman as he gives his Second Thoughts on the win and the team's sudden surge toward .500.

Coming off three straight wins to climb back to 8-10, the Indians needed to solve Jorge Quintana to leave Chicago with a rain-shortened series sweep. Two weeks ago, Quintana pitched seven innings of one-hit baseball against the Indians, and he was facing a lineup without Michael Bourn, Carlos Santana, and Asdrubal Cabrera during this game. From the start, this looked like a tough game to win. Join Michael Goodman as he gives his Second Thoughts on Wednesday's loss.
