So how does one pit a player from the 1940's against a star from the 1920's or 1990's and how do you have a pitcher compete with an outfielder? Well you can't - at least not in real life - but you can in the fantasy world of OOTP baseball. And that's what IBI history buff Rick Lamborn did to determine the best Indians player of all time with a gigantic 128-player tournament. He explains the tournament and previews the first round in his latest....

Right now as we prepare for this year's wild card one-and-done games or even one-and-done tiebreaker play in games, it's interesting to note that the Indians are not foreigners to this experience (while most of us may not remember). IBI history guru Rick Lamborn takes us down memory lane to 1948, the last year the Indians won a World Series, and recalls how the Indians had to go to Fenway for a one game playoff to determine the AL pennant and get into the playoffs.

The year was 1871. The country was in the shadow of the Civil War and General Grant was in the White House and what some consider the first Major Leagues was founded. The Forrest City Blue Stockings debuted and featured some of baseball's greats such as Deacon White, and IBI history guru Rick Lamborn takes us for a trip down memory lane on how that first season of Cleveland baseball went.

September in the Nostalgia League opened with the 2005 Indians holding a three game lead over the 1920 Indians in the Speaker Division in a race that may go down to the wire. Over in the Boudreau Division the 1995 Indians look to be in control as they hold a 12 game lead with only 22 games to go. The IBI's Rick Lamborn recaps the September pennant race and gets us setup for the playoffs.

August saw several teams eliminated from playoff contention in the Nostalgia League. One team is running away with the Boudreau Division, but first place in the Speaker Division changed places again and it represents the closest race for a division title. History guru Rick Lamborn provides the recap of the month of August in the league and gets us all up to date on some of the noteworthy game outcomes, stats, standings and more.

The Nostalgia League - an 18-team league matching up the greatest Indians teams of all time - continues on. July started out with a no-no and was bookended on July 30th with another no-no. Mike Hargrove's 1995 Indians have built up a comfortable lead in the Boudreau Division, but the Speaker Division changed leaders. Larry Doby and Mike Garcia shined in July, and the IBI's Rick Lamborn shares all the details of what happened over the entire month.

The Nostalgia League continues on and two months are in the books. As the season moves into June, some teams like the 1995 and 2005 Indians continue to dominate, while the 1968 and 1976 Indians have struggled. Shortstop Lou Bourdreau is setting the league on fire with his hitting, Vic Wertz and Rocky Colavito are showing the power, and Cy Falkenberg has been dominant on the mound. Check it out!

A month is in the books in the IBI's Nostalgia League, a simulated league that pits the 18 greatest Indians' teams against one another over a full 162 game season. Eric Wedge's teams always got off to horrid starts, but not in this simulation as the 2005 Indians lead the Speaker Division and the 2007 Indians lead the Boudreau Division after one month of play. The Rock leads the pack with 15 homers, Albert Belle leads with 31 RBI, Otis Nixon leads with 20 stolen bases, and Luis Tiant leads with 73 strikeouts. Check it all out!

Have you ever wondered which Indians' team was the greatest of all-time? IBI contributer Rick Lamborn decided to tackle that topic. To do it, he has compiled 16 of the greatest Indians' teams, and utilizing Out Of The Park Baseball 13's baseball simulation game, he's done just that. Can Bob Feller dominate some of the 90's hitters such as Manny Ramirez and Kenny Lofton? Can Lou Boudreau lead his team to the ultimate prize? Tune into the Nostalgia League to find out...
