Columbus Clippers' manager Chris Tremie was tossed from the game in the fifth inning during his team's loss to the Louisville Bats. Tremie's players managed to score just one run off of their six hits in the game, while his pitching staff gave up eight hits. Columbus is five games below .500 as the June schedule gets under way.

The Columbus Clippers scored 19 runs in game one of a double header with the Lousiville Batts Saturday before battling through a tight game in the evening. Game two ended as the Clippers walked off in the bottom of the ninth after they scored nine runs in the eighth inning of game one. In total, Columbus outscored Louisville 21-4 for the day.

Free baseball was played at Huntington Park Wednesday morning as the Clippers once again went into extra innings with the Charlotte Knights. With no end in sight southpaw Nick Hagadone took over in tenth – letting up a big fly over the left field wall for a three-run homer, putting the Knights up 5-2. The Clippers were unable to dig themselves out of Hagadone's hole and fell to Charlotte for the first time the series.

While the Charlotte Knights had a 3-2 lead going into the ninth inning, the Columbus Clippers managed to extend the game, before walking off in the bottom of the 12th. Elliot Johnson singled to center field to score Luke Carlin and end the game in the third inning of extra play. Tyler Cloyd ended with the no decision, but pitched a strong game of six innings, six hits, two runs and just one walk compared to four strikeouts.

The Columbus Clippers took the on the Durham Bulls Saturday, but lost 5-2 after taking a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. Two fourth-inning runs were all that Columbus could muster on five total hits. Durham racked up seven hits and scored four runs between the fifth and eighth innings to take the win.

After a disappointing 2013 for Trevor Bauer, the righty labored through the offseason and after recording seven quality starts it is apparent his hard work has paid off. Bauer has been the essence of consistency this season at Triple-A Columbus and because of that he will make his second big league start of the season Tuesday night against the Detroit Tigers. The Columbus Clippers went down early and never made it back against the Syracuse Chiefs Monday. Columbus lost 5-0 even though it outhit Syracuse, seven to six. Leadoff man Elliot Johnson finished with two hits, but three runs through three innings for the Chiefs was enough. Scott Barnes lasted just 2.1 innings as he gave up those three runs on just two hits with two walks.

The Columbus Clippers snapped a four-game losing streak as they traveled to Syracuse, N.Y., to face the Red Wings Saturday night.
Columbus trumped the Red Wings, 8-1, in their first game of the four-game series. Travis Banwart took the mound for the Clippers, going 5.2 innings, with seven hits and one run. Banwart earned his third win against Syracuse.

The Columbus Clippers took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday, but came out with a 5-4 loss after the Rochester Red Wings walked off in the ninth. The game was delayed due to rain, but Rochester was not phased as it pulled of the comeback win. Columbus starter T.J. House tossed 5.2 four-run innings while Vinnie Pestano got the loss in relief. House has a 2.40 ERA this season.

After going down to an early 3-0 deficit, the Columbus Clippers found a way to beat the Syracuse Chiefs, 5-4, Monday in Columbus. The Chiefs scored twice in the second and once in the fourth before Columbus tacked one on the board in the bottom of the fourth frame. The Clippers then scored three times in the seventh to take the lead, then sealed the win in the bottom of the ninth after Syracuse tied it in the top half.

A tied up ball game in the seventh, the Columbus Clippers had the bases loaded with two outs. David Cooper stepped into the box and delivered a hit right down the left field line, bringing in Audy Ciriaco and Tim Fedroff to score. The double put Columbus up for the first time in the game 4-2. The Clippers late rally proved to be enough to take the win 4-2. They lead the series with the Syracuse Chiefs 2-0.

The Columbus Clippers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning Wednesday and never looked back. The Clippers finished the night by winning 7-0 against the Rochester Red Wings. New addition Giovanny Urshela continued his torrid start to his stay in Columbus with two hits, including a tousle, and two RBIs.

Giovanny Urshela tallied two hits and two runs while Matt Carson went 3 for 3 to lead the Columbus Clippers to a win against Rochester, 6-4. Tyler Cloyd pitched five innings and the Clippers' bullpen added four shutout frames in support. The win moved Columbus within one game of a .500 record.

The Columbus Clippers stretched the game to 11 innings, but eventually fell to the Norfolk Tides, 3-2, Saturday night. The loss brought Columbus to three games under .500 after the team gave up the deciding run in the second inning of extra play. Travis Banwart's shutout play through 5.2 innings of work went to waste, but the overall pitching performance was a bright spot for the Clippers.

Columbus scored both its runs in the bottom of the first inning before allowing one in the fourth and the deciding runs in the eighth. Jose Ramirez blasted two home runs as the Columbus Clippers beat the Toledo Mud Hens 6-4 Monday night. While Columbus still sits at the bottom of the division, the win snapped a three-game losing streak. Overall the Clippers are off to a slow start, but continued offensive outings like that of Ramirez should improve their fortunes.

J.D. Martinez stole the show with three home runs in the opener before another in the night cap as Toledo beat Columbus twice Saturday. Tyler Cloyd struggled, as did game No. 2 starter Toru Murata, leading to a total of 15 Mud Hen runs on the day. The Clippers stormed back for a shot to win the second game, but ended up falling 7-6.
