Jake Dungan started his week out here in Arizona with a tie back in Peoria last Saturday when the Indians and Padres played to a 4-4 draw after 10 innings, so it might as well end with one as the Tribe and White Sox ended their bout at Camelback Ranch in Glendale tied at two at the end of regulation play, opting not to play extra innings. Join him as he recaps another tie game by the Tribe in less than a week.

In a similar sequence of events to Wednesday's victory over the Padres, the Indians played a close game against the division-rival Royals at Goodyear Ballpark up until the seventh inning, where the Tribe bats came to life with a fury to score nine runs in the seventh and eighth innings to plate nine runs and bury Kansas City 12-6. For anyone who has been to minor league spring training the first thing you notice is the abundance of players in camp as there are close to 180 players at any given time. But even with players pouring out of the fields like water in a flooded stream, things somehow, someway run smoothly every day as players move from field to field, from drill to drill, and from coach to coach with near precision. The IBI's Tony Lastoria sat down with Farm Director Ross Atkins last year and talked about everything that goes into minor league spring training, the decision-making process and so much more.

Cleveland announced its first cuts from the major league camp Wednesday as it reassigned 12 players down to minor league camp. No one was actually cut from the team, though, as the cuts were just in terms of the major league roster.

Carlos Santana, deeply entrenched in a competition with Lonnie Chisenhall to win the everyday third baseman job, made his case Tuesday, helping the Indians run away with a 12-7 win at the expense of the San Diego Padres. Not only did Santana blast a two-run home run in the first inning, the catcher-turned-utility man looked very comfortable at third base and made two exceptional plays in the process. Join Rob Fuller as he reports from Goodyear.

After a bump in the road on Monday in Goodyear against the Angels, the Indians returned to their winning ways on Tuesday as they took to the road to face off against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Salt River Fields in Talking Stick. The Tribe jumped ahead early and never looked back as they soundly defeated the hometown team 7-1. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he reports live from Arizona on all the action.

Trevor Bauer needed to impress on Monday following Josh Tomlin's performance on Sunday, but he struggled mightily through his two innings, leading to an 8-3 loss at the hands of the Anaheim Angels. With the race for the fifth spot in the Indians rotation heating up, Bauer's stock may have dropped a bit due to issues that have plagued him throughout his short career. Join Rob Fuller as he recaps the action.

The Indians have gotten off to a brilliant start in Spring Training this year as the team currently owns a 9-1 record and is atop the Cactus League standings. The Tribe's pitching has been brilliant so far, and that has to be a good theme as the team prepares to open the season in three weeks. Join the IBI's Steve Orbanek as he recaps the week that was in the latest edition of the Indians Notebook.

Today we re-post an article that originally ran in May of 2008 that provides details into the release process in the minors and the emotions that players go through. That year the IBI's Tony Lastoria talked to three Indians minor league players that were recently released to get an understanding of the process and the whirlwind of emotions that follow. With the first full squad workout in the minors set for Monday, this is a fitting time to post this again as close to 15-20 players will be released in a few weeks.

Pitching was the name of the game for the second consecutive day Friday afternoon, as the Tribe defeated the Chicago Cubs, 7-2. Indians bats tagged Chicago starter Edwin Jackson from the very first inning and Cleveland hurlers combined for 16 strikeouts in route to their eighth straight Cactus League victory. Join IBI Tribe beat reporter Jim Berdysz as he recaps and shares his thoughts on the action.

It wasn't a good start for Indians minor league right-hander Travis Banwart, but that wouldn't stop Tribe bats and bullpen from going quietly. Trailing 5-1 after six innings of play, Cleveland relievers helped the offense outscore Seattle 7-0 over the final three frames to trounce the Mariners, 8-5 for their sixth straight victory this spring.

Even a Super Bowl champ couldn't get in the way of another Tribe victory. Indians bats banged out six runs on 11 hits to edge Texas Monday afternoon, 6-5. The Rangers would cut the deficit to one run in the eighth inning, but it wasn't enough to overtake Elliot Johnson's perfect day at the plate. Join IBI Tribe beat reporter Jim Berdysz as he recaps and shares his thoughts on the spring contest.

A two-run homer by Ryan Raburn was essentially all Cleveland would need Friday afternoon, as they blanked the Cincinnati Reds, 4-0. Collecting just four hits on offense, pitching was the name of the game in the rubber match against Cincy at Goodyear Ballpark. IBI Tribe beat reporter Jim Berdysz recaps the action.

With the minor league season coming up on the completion of its second week (already?) there are a lot of players not assigned to a full season affiliate at the moment that are either nursing injuries, rehabbing, or waiting around for an opportunity. In this re-post of a piece from last year, Tony provides all the details on what extended spring training is and what the players there can expect.
