Balls flying out of Huntington Park in Columbus with one of the main culprits being a real blast from the past. An Akron starting pitcher turning around a season's worth of poor performances with a strong day in Canal Park. Few hits and fewer runs from the Lake County offense, letting down their pitchers. To figure out who these cryptic hints are referring to and find out all you need to know about the action in the minor leagues Wednesday night, join Jim Piascik as he takes you Around The Farm.

The Captains fell to the Silver Hawks 3-0 Wednesday night after several failed attempts to bring in runs. After two pitching changes and only five hits, the Captains just could not bring men around to home. All the way through the seventh inning, the Captains never hit anything more than a single. Singles came from first baseman Erik Gonzalez, right fielder Logan Vick, catcher Jeremy Lucas, designated hitter Eric Haase and another from Gonzalez. Those singles were the only hits for the Captains on the night and the only positives for the Captains as well.

It was an interesting week for the Lake County Captains as they were on the road in Peoria and Burlington last week. Peoria’s results were rare, as one game ended in a tie after it was suspended due to weather on Thursday and continued on Friday, and another game was cancelled. The team picked up two wins in Burlington as the offense produced seven runs on Sunday and the pitching was untouchable on Monday. All of that and more is recapped in this week's notebook...

The IBI Hot List is back for another week and recaps the hot (and some cold) performances in the Indians system over the past week. The top 20 performances over the past seven days are ranked with some commentary, and the five worst showings are also ranked with some commentary there as well. This week I take a look at the hot showing by shortstop Francisco Lindor, outfielder LeVon Washington, right-hander Jordan Cooper, outfielder Logan Vick and others, and then also look at the recent struggles of shortstop Dorssys Paulino, first baseman Jesus Aguilar, left-hander Shawn Morimando and others.

The Lake County Captains game against the Peoria Chiefs, which was scheduled for Friday has been cancelled due to inclement weather. Due to the fact that the teams do not play again this season, the game will not be made up.

Life after the draft changes considerably for a player, but Lake County Captains’ starter Dylan Baker knows that baseball is just a game. Baker was taken by the Cleveland Indians in the 5th round of the 2012 draft and is an Alaska native who is still finding his way in pro ball. The IBI's Stephanie Metzger gives an update on the talented righty...

On Thursday, Matt LaPorta came back to action in a big way, while one of the top pitching prospects in the Indians farm system had a huge day in Akron. On the opposite side, there was a rough outing in Columbus, but the bullpen was able to limit the damage. Contributor Andrew Zajac recaps all the minor league action from around the organization and takes you Around the Farm, after the jump...

The Peoria Chiefs defeated the Lake County Captains on a walk off three run home run by Jacob Wilson on Wednesday Night at Peoria Chiefs Stadium. The final was 13-10. The Chiefs (11-12) hit for the homerun cycle. Geoff Klein hit a grand slam in the first inning, and that was followed by a two run homer by Wilson in the second inning. Charlie Tilson hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the fourth inning and then the game winner the three run shot in the bottom of the ninth was the second homer of the day for Wilson. What could top another dominating day from the man known as #WashTime, the top prospect in the system continuing to make his case for a quick promotion to Double-A, and even a former top prospect doing his best to mash his way back into the major league picture? How about winning a game in extra innings at the plate and behind it? To find out who our late-inning hero is tonight and to find the rest of the action from around the minor leagues, join Jim Piascik as he goes Around The Farm.

The Lake County Captains posted a 3-5 record since last Wednesday, but things are looking better as the offense is starting to come alive and the bullpen has provided some good outings. The warmer climate seems to be helping the starting pitchers a bit too, as the rotation crafted some better outings. The bullpen, however, hasn’t been able to hold opponents back as too many leads have been blown by the relievers. Join the IBI's Stephanie Metzger in his weekly Captains notebook....
