Caleb Hamrick’s brilliant start, coupled with some timely hitting, gave the Scrappers a 3-1 win over the Auburn Doubledays. Hamrick kept the Auburn lineup honest with the slider, but used the fastball to put them away.

With both the Columbus and Akron offenses hitting the skids, Around The Farm needed some extra help to remain interesting Thursday night. Luckily the start of the Arizona League, the return of Lake County from the All-Star break, and offensive fireworks for Mahoning Valley provided some fodder for us. The night was highlighted by a Lake County catcher showing off his power in a big way. To find out who it is and all you need to know about the night in the minor leagues, join Jim Piascik and go Around The Farm.

Following a night in which the Scrappers scored seven runs mostly due to the struggles of the Jamestown Jammers’ pitching and defense, the offense officially arrived Thursday at Dwyer Stadium, unleashing 16 hits and ultimately sealing an easy 14-2 victory. The win brings Mahoning Valley to .500 in the early season as the team is now sitting at 2-2.

Mahoning Valley outfielder Josh McAdams has power in his bat and power in his arm that make him a very interesting prospect with a lot of upside. But what makes him really stand out and defines him is his extraordinary makeup and his fun personality. He has a certain brightness about him and has a fan-first mentality that will quickly make him a fan favorite in The Valley. The IBI's Hayden Grove recently sat down with him and shares the details in his latest...

After Tim Fedroff tore up the minor leagues in 2012, many expected great things from the outfielder in 2013. Fedroff got off to a slow start, but that is never a reason to give up hope completely. Lately, the outfielder has been coming around and Wednesday night was no exception. To see exactly how Fedroff fared last night, which Akron outfielder continues to prove he needs a promotion, and the rest of the action in the minor leagues, join Jim Piascik and go Around The Farm.

On a beautiful night at Eastwood Field, the Mahoning Valley Scrappers offense finally got rolling, albeit in unorthodox fashion, ultimately defeating the Jamestown Jammers 7-6. The Scrappers first run came in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Claudio Bautista following a double by Juan Romero. And that marked the end of normalcy while the Scrappers were at the plate, as miscues by Jamestown pitchers and fielders led to four additional runs.

NILES- On a cloud-free night at Eastwood Field, the Scrappers copied last night’s losing effort and fell to Jamestown by almost the exact score, 3-0. Yet again, dominant pitching performances and missed opportunities were the theme.

The 2013 Mahoning Valley Scrappers are certainly an eclectic bunch. A combination of fresh draft picks, older free agents, and rising prospects, the Scrappers embody their nickname perfectly; they are the personification of scrappy. Just trying to scratch and claw their way to the next level, each Scrapper has a different story. The IBI's Hayden Grove talked with several of the Scrappers over the weekend and sets the stage for the start of their season tonight!
