As America took time to reflect on the events of 13 years ago, the Indians and Twins played, fittingly, a twin-bill at Progressive Field and it was the Tribe who came out on top in both matchups thanks to strong pitching and enough offense to dispense of the Twins and give Cleveland a series win ahead of a key matchup against the Tigers. Join the IBI's Jake Dungan as he recaps both games.

Maybe it was a day off they needed after all. They say baseball is a game of inches. Give Michael Brantley an extra inch on a sliding defensive play, and Trevor Bauer may have had himself a shutout Tuesday. Instead, the farther into September it gets, the farther it seems the Indians are fading out of contention. Opening up a three-game series with the last place Minnesota Twins, Cleveland was handed a tough 4-3 loss Tuesday night, thanks to a game changing fourth inning.

For four innings it looked like the Indians were in store for yet another nail-biter. Danny Salazar was cruising, and the Indians offense wasn’t generating much against Jered Weaver. Then it all unraveled. Salazar was hit hard in the fifth inning, giving up two home runs and six runs before being replaced by Zach McAllister – an offensive explosion from the Angels that essentially put this game out of reach. The IBI's Michael Goodman provides his second thoughts on the game...

Things were far from normal for the Indians Monday afternoon at Progressive Field. Well, at least on the pitching side of things. Making up a rained out game initially scheduled for June 18 against the first place L.A. Angles, Tribe starter Danny Salazar was tagged for six runs on eight hits through 4 2/3 innings, as the Wahoos fell to the Halos, 12-3.

Even coming off of a successful 2013 season where they made the playoffs, the Indians came into 2014 in somewhat of a transition year with a lot of question marks that needed to be answered. Nick Maronde became the latest player to trade his halo for a block "C" or vice-versa this season as the Indians and Angels have now had multiple personnel change squads this year, including Joe Smith, Vinnie Pestano and, most recently, J.B. Schuck. After appearing in two College World Series and playing with some of the game's best in LA, the left-hander is ready for the next chapter in his career, as the IBI's Jake Dungan writes.
