BINGHAMTON -- Center fielder Tim Fedroff went 4-for-5 with three runs batted in, and first baseman Adam Abraham and left fielder Nick Weglarz each homered Friday as the Akron Aeros defeated the Binghamton Mets, 10-2.

The Aeros (33-19) won their fourth straight game to improve to a season-high, 14 games over .500.  The win over the Mets (25-27) extended Akron’s lead in the Eastern League Western Division to six games as Harrisburg lost 10-3 at New Britain.

The Aeros took a 3-0 lead in the fourth inning when Abraham blasted a homer to left field off B-Mets starter Gonzalez Germen (1-4, 5.00).  It was Abraham’s fifth dinger of the year as he drove home Fedroff and designated hitter Chun Chen, who had both singled.  After a cold spell toward the end of May, Abraham has seven RBIs in his last three games.

Akron added another three runs in the fifth when Fedroff hit a two-run single.  Chen followed with an RBI-groundout to make the score 6-0.  With his four hits, Fedroff raised his average to .316 on the season.

Germen was finished after five innings, allowing six runs (four earned) on four hits and one walk.  He struck out nine.

The Aeros added two more runs in the sixth off B-Mets reliever Brandon Moore.  After Moore walked the bases loaded to begin the inning, shortstop Davis Stoneburner grounded into a double play that scored a run.  Fedroff followed with a single that scored another run, making the score 8-0.

Akron added single runs in the eighth and ninth innings to hit ten runs scored.  Left fielder Nick Weglarz capped the scoring in the ninth inning with his fourth homer of the season.

Three Aeros pitchers combined to hold the B-Mets to one hit, a single-game low for an opponent this season.

Starter Steven Wright (4-2, 1.72) pitched six strong innings allowing just one hit, a solo home run by Reese Havens in the fifth.  Binghamton scored an unearned run against Wright in the sixth without a hit.  Wright struck out six and walked two.

Right-handers Kyle Landis and Bryce Stowell combined to throw the final three innings.  Neither reliever allowed a hit while striking out three.

The Aeros and B-Mets will continue the four-game series on Saturday at 7:05 p.m.  Right-hander Paolo Espino (0-1, 1.69) will start for the Aeros, while southpaw Darrin Gorski (2-3, 4.63) is scheduled to start for Binghamton.

Notes: Nick Weglarz has at least one hit in seven of nine games since being removed from the 40-man roster. … Tim Fedroff (.316) and Chun Chen (.310) are both among the Eastern League leaders in hitting. … Announced attendance: 2,128.
