The Cleveland Indians today announced they have recalled first baseman Jesus Aguilar from Triple-A Columbus and placed outfielder Nyjer Morgan on the 15-day Disabled List with a right knee sprain.

Aguilar, 23, has spent the entire year to date with the Triple-A Columbus Clippers, hitting .298 (39-131) with 8 doubles, 7 home runs and 19 RBI in 37 games (.395 OBP, .519 SLG, .914 OPS). During his tenure with the Clippers he is batting .346 (18-52) with 5 2B, 4 HR & 9 RBI (.460/.673/1.133) off left-handed pitching. Added to the 40-man in the off-season, the Maracay, Venezuela native will be making his debut at the Major League level batting sixth (DH) tonight in Rogers Centre against the Toronto Blue Jays wearing #36.

Morgan was injured flagging down a batted ball to left field last night in the sixth inning and was removed an inning later.  This marks his fifth career stint on the Major League DL.

Good luck Jesus, you have continued getting better year after year and now you get a shot. I hope you never see the Cbus locker room again!!!

Wow, if anybody saw this coming, you have a future in the circus between the bearded lady and the man with four tits. I figured it would be Naquin. Perhaps the fact that Nick Swisher has not been hitting changed the calculus-maybe Tito wants Swish to feel somebody is coming up behind him. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out, for sure. After going zero for Arizona, lighting it up out of the gate in Columbus and then cooling off a bit lately it's hard to know what to expect from Aguilar. He's going to see a lefty tonight, and probably Sunday in Kazmir. I am not sure who the Tigers will throw Monday, which is a nationally televised game. Hopefully he gets that first hit tonight, stays calm, and gets to settle in and do his thing. Lord knows we need guys to hit w RISP. Jesus is his name, RBI's are his game, hmm....
