(Akron, Ohio) August 21, 2014 – Coming off a save on Wednesday night, Akron reliever Enosil Tejeda stepped to the mound and registered his second save in as many days as the RubberDucks defeated the Altoona Curve, 4-3, on Thursday night at Canal Park.

The outing marks Tejeda's third-straight relief appearance in which he was awarded a save and was his sixth overall. The righty pitched the final inning, walked one and struck out one.

The RubberDucks (72-59) remain tied with the Richmond Flying Squirrels for first place in the EL West after Richmond's victory over New Britain at home. The third-place Bowie Baysox defeated Reading to stay 5 1⁄2 games behind the first place teams. The top two teams in the division make the EL playoffs. Akron has 12 regular season games left, nine of which are at home.

In his seventh start with the RubberDucks, Shawn Morimando pitched 4.1 innings, giving up six hits and two runs. Both runs came in the first frame along with three singles that helped the Curve get off to an early 2-0 lead. The lefty fanned a season-high eight batters, besting his previous mark of seven strikeouts on August 2nd when he went six innings.

The RubberDucks got on the board in the bottom of the second with the help of some Altoona miscues when Bryan LaHair scored on a passed ball after reaching on a fielding error by Curve third baseman Kelson Brown.

A wild pitch allowing Joe Wendle to score in the fourth combined with a pair of sacrifice flies from Tim Fedroff andAnthony Gallas split between the fourth and fifth innings helped Akron extend its lead to 4-2.

The Curve (55-76) tacked on another run in the seventh when a wild pitch from Trey Haley allowed Altoona shortstop Gift Ngoepe to score, making it a 4-3 game.

Adam Miller (1-2) picked up the win after pitching 1.2 innings and striking out one. The loss went to Altoona'sThomas Harlan (3-3) who pitched four innings and allowed all four of Akron's runs, three of which were earned. The 'Ducks managed four hits off the lefty.

The RubberDucks begin a three-game series on the road against the Binghamton Mets on Friday at 7:05 p.m. Akron is expected to activate LHP Nick Maronde (NR) on Friday to make the start against the Mets while RHP Tyler Pill(8-5, 3.85) will start on the mound for Binghamton.
