Akron Update

June 5, 2009

For tomorrow's (Saturday) double-header, RHP Jake Westbrook is expected to begin his rehab assignment with a start in game one. In game two, RHP Brian Grening has been called up from extended spring training and likely will make a spot start. If he does not start he will fill a much needed bullpen role backing up Westbrook in game one or eating some innings in a "bullpen-by-committe" start in game two. Congrats to Brian on the callup. It is not known how long he will stay with Akron, though with no experience in Kinston and Lake County he will likely be reassigned after the game to one of those two clubs.

Supposedly LHP Matt Meyer has also been promoted to Akron from Kinston.
