Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of the daily performances by Indians prospects. This is a special fall and winter ball version of ATF that recaps all the offseason action by Indians players in offseason winter ball leagues.  The positions listed below are where the player was playing in the game.

Dominican Winter League

Carlos Santana (3B, Leones del Escogido): 0-for-2, 2 BB. Santana has now reached base in all eight games he has played this winter in the Dominican. In total he has 10 hits and 4 walks good for a .389 on-base percentage so far, which is very Santana-like. Defensively, he did not commit any errors in this game (he has five errors this winter), though he did receive a good amount of action at the hot corner getting three chances and fielding them and throwing out the runner at first each time without incident.

Venezuela Winter League

Jesus Aguilar (1B, Leones del Caracas): 2-for-4, RBI. Aguilar has not homered since December 13th, but he has still hit well in the 7 games since then going 8-for-24 at the plate. The dream of breaking the home run record of 20 seems to be dead as he is still stuck on 17 homers - unless he goes crazy the last week of the season and hits four homers in Caracas' final three games. Even if he does not break the home run record, what a season for the 23-year old slugger as he is hitting .324 with 17 HR, 49 RBI and .995 OPS in 55 games for Caracas. That’s exceptional and the kind of numbers which make you dream of how he can impact the lineup in Cleveland at some point.

Excellent winter season for Aquilar. I hope he brings this type of power numbers to Columbus. If that happens he will make it to the majors.

Does anyone have any information on how Santana's throwing has been thus far at 3B? I'd be more interested in that compared to the field aspect of 3B. That should improve with the more reps he gets there. He actually has a good throwing arm behind the plate so if it translate from 3B there might be something of value there.
