Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of yesterday’s performances by Indians prospects throughout the system. This is a special fall and winter ball version of ATF that recaps all the offseason action by Indians players in the Arizona Fall League (AFL) and the Caribbean Leagues. The positions listed below are where the player was playing in yesterday’s game.

Roberto Perez (backup C, Indios de Mayaguez) - no plate appearances - Perez, much as he does in Cleveland, serves as Mayaguez's backup backstop on Tuesday night, catching the bottom of the ninth inning to round out an uneventful Christmas Eve-Eve Around the Farm.

Alexis Pantoja (PR-backup SS, Senadores de San Juan) - 0-3, 2 K - Pantoja struck out twice and grounded into a double play in an uneventful substitute appearance (as to how a backup could have three plate appearances, the game went fourteen innings).  Performances like this show why he has only had 7 at bat in six games on the season. He's young and a part of their developmental team.

This is my last column before Christmas, so I'd like to wish all my readers a Merry Christmas.  I'll be back with my next edition of ATF on Boxing Day (A British holiday celebrated with a large number of soccer matches but, oddly enough, no boxing cards that I know of.).

Merry Christmas to you too Arthur- thank you for the great work! From what I know, the "boxing" has to do with the boxing of gifts, not the boxing matches of fighters- go figure. :-) Plus, it's also a big holiday in Canada as well.
