Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of the daily performances by Indians prospects. This is a special fall and winter ball version of ATF that recaps all the offseason action by Indians players in offseason winter ball leagues.  The positions listed below are where the player was playing in the game.

Carlos Santana (Leones del Escogido, 3B): 0-for-1, 1 R, 4 BB. This performance is really hard to judge, given the fact that the Licey pitchers didn't even really pitch to him.  He walked four times in five plate appearances, with two of the free passes being intentional.  The best stat from this game was that Carlos went errorless at third again.  In terms of the result, Escogido shut out the Tigres 8-0 to reduce their deficit to three games to two in the best-of-nine series.

Ryan Battaglia (Brisbane Bandits, starting DH): 0-for-4, 3 K. Battaglia struggled at the plate on Friday as he struck out three times and grounded int oa  double play in his only other plate appearance.  Battaglia is now down to a .206/.347/.474 slash line, albeit with 6 HR and 14 RBI, in 36 games.  His last ten games have been abysmal as he has posted only a .167/.250/.306 slash in those games.

No Indians played in Friday's Serie Final action in any of the other three Caribbean Winter Leagues.  The scores of these games and the current status of each series follows.

Indios de Mayaguez 7, Criollos de Caguas 4 (Series Tied 2-2)

Navegantes de Magallanes 6, Caribes de Anzoategui 5 (Magallanes Leads 2-0)

Game 3 in progress at press time (Series Tied 1-1)

I think Battaglia is another individual who could be cut by the Indians in Spring Training minor league camp. Seems like he also has a problem of making contact. Too many K's and poor batting avg.
