Around the Farm (ATF) takes a quick look at some of the daily performances by Indians prospects. This is a special fall and winter ball version of ATF that recaps all the offseason action by Indians players in offseason winter ball leagues.  The positions listed below are where the player was playing in the game.

Australia Baseball League

Ryan Battaglia (DH, Brisbane Bandits): 0-for-4, 2 K. Battaglia was held hitless for the third time in 12 games and he still has yet to record a multi-hit game this offseason. He has amassed 9 walks which is nice as it has him at a .375 on-base percentage even though he is hitting just .211, but he also has 15 strikeouts in 38 at bats.

Puerto Rico Winter League

Carlos Moncrief (DH, Gigantes de Carolina): 2-for-6, 2 K. Moncrief was removed late in the game for a pinch hitter, but he had a solid game prior to being taken out. He now has his batting average up to .263 in 19 games played this offseason, though has yet to show much power with just 3 of his 20 hits going for extra bases and his plate discipline has crumbled to a 3:22 walk to strikeout ratio.

Roberto Perez (C, Indios de Mayaguez): 1-for-2, RBI. Perez has yet to start a game and continues to be a late game defensive replacement or fill in when the regular catcher is removed for a pinch runner. He was substituted into the game in the 10th inning and came through in the clutch with an RBI single in the bottom of the 11th inning to tie the score at 4-4 and send it deeper into extra innings. The hit was his first this offseason. He then came through in the clutch once again in the 15th inning with a walkoff RBI single. He is now 2-for-11 in 10 games and his first two hits this offseason for big ones for him and his Mayaguez teammates.

Venezuela Winter League

Jesus Aguilar (1B, Leones del Caracas): 3-for-5, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI, K. Aguilar appears to have found his second wind in Venezuela as after a torrid start and then a two week or so slump he is starting to hit again. He is 5-for-10 in his last two games and overall in 39 games has piled up some impressive numbers hitting .312 with 12 HR, 35 RBI and .937 OPS.

It will be fun to watch Aquilar and Moncrief in Columbus this year. 2 prospects that could help the Indians in the near future. Is Aquilar OPS this winter is his career best ?
