The AZL Indians split a doubleheader with the AZL Dodgers last night, winning the first game 4-2 and dropping the second 3-1.

Pitching was the name of the game for the Indians, as the starters were both high draft picks for the Tribe in the 2012 draft (2nd round pick Mitch Brown and 3rd round pick Kieran Lovegrove). Lovegrove (

ND, 4.0 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 SO)

outdueled Brown (ND, 3.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 SO, 1 HR) on this day, but both had great outings in terms of development going forward.

The best pitcher yesterday might not have been Lovegrove or Brown, however, as Felix Sterling had four innings of elite relief in Game 1 last night. His six strikeout, three hit, one walk performance showed what he is capable of, even if he had trouble tapping into it at Lake County this year.

There wasn't much offense in Arizona last night, but Jorge Martinez provided plenty for the Indians. Martinez went 3-for-6 last night with one double, one triple, and three RBI last night. His impressive season slash line now stands at .339/.384/.557.

The AZL Indians will be back in action Friday night when they face the AZL Brewers at 10:00 PM.
