The Captains fell to the Timber Rattlers on Saturday night, 6-4. The game went into extra innings until the 4-4 tie was finally broken up by Wisconsin for the walkoff win.

Lake County is currently on a six game road trip in Wisconsin and were swept by the Beloit Snappers in their first three games. Saturday’s loss brings the Captains record to 35-54 on the season.

The Captains and the Timber Rattlers both came out swinging, each scoring two runs in the first inning alone. Wisconsin tacked on another two runs in the second and third innings, but Lake County added their third and fourth runs in the fourth inning to tie up the game at 4-4.

That was where the score would stay for the remainder of the game until the Timber Rattlers broke up the tie and grabbed the victory, 6-4 over The Captains.

The Captains started Jake Sisco who pitched six innings, allowing seven hits, four runs, walked one and struck out two. The Timber Rattlers started Tyler Wagner who pitched eight innings, allowing 11 hits, four runs, walked one and struck out eight.

Righty Cody Penny relieved Sisco, pitching two and two thirds innings, followed by Grant Sides who pitched two and a third innings, but the loss was given to Jack Wagoner who closed the game and allowed one hit and the two runs that captured the win for the Timber Rattlers.

Wisconsin’s Rodolfo Fernandez relieved Wagner, pitching four innings and only allowing one hit, while he struck out eight.

Both teams had over 40 at bats, with 12 hits for The Captains and 10 hits for the Timber Rattlers, but Wisconsin prevailed, turning more of their hits into enough runs to capture the victory.

Saturday’s loss is the fourth straight for The Captains, and their road trip continues on Sunday against the Timber Rattlers at 2:05pm.
