(Eastlake, OH) - The Lake County Captains (31-37) swatted two homers and defeated the Dayton Dragons (29-40) by a score of 11-2. Lake County had a big five run inning in the bottom of the third inning. The Captains sent eight men to the plate and used a two run double by Jerrud Sabourin and a RBI triple by Todd Hankins in the inning to fuel the five run frame. It was a 6-0 game headed to the fourth inning.
Lake County scored first when Todd Hankins homered to left field. That was his first homerun of the season and the Captains led 1-0.
Trailing 6-0 Dayton scored a run to cut the Captains lead to five runs. Juan Silva homered for the second straight night and it was a 6-1 ballgame headed the bottom of the fourth. Lake County scored two more when Luigi Rodriguez homered to right field and the score was 8-1 Lake County headed to the seventh inning.
In the seventh inning, Alex Monsalve singled to lead off and scored later in the inning on a base hit by Robel Garcia and the score was 9-1 Captains. Lake County tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning when Rodriguez and Francisco Lindor were on third base they both scored on a single by Sabourin and the score was 11-1 Captains.
Dayton got a run in the ninth, Juan Silva walked to begin the ninth and took second on indifference and then moved to third on an infield single by Sean Buckley. Silva scored when Captains righty Manny Carmona balked. The run made it an 11-2 game and that was the final.
LHP Tanner Robles (4-4) took to the mound for Dayton and took the loss. He went five innings, allowed five hits six runs, only two were earned, he walked one and struck out four. He allowed the homer to Todd Hankins. The Dayton bullpen pitched three innings and allowed five runs, and four were earned on seven hits and allowed a homer to Luigi Rodriguez.
RHP Cody Anderson (4-4) got the start for the Captains and did not factor in the decision. Anderson pitched three innings and gave up four hits, he walked one and struck out one. Mason Radeke (4-1) came on for the Captains and earned the win. Radeke went five innings allowing one earned run on four hits and four strikeouts. Manny Carmona entered in the ninth inning for the Captains and allowed one run on the balk.
Sunday is a Family Fun Day and will feature a pre-game player autograph session, expanded in-stadium entertainment and activities, an enhanced Kids' Zone area with new inflatables including a new speed pitch and the opportunity for kids to run the bases after the game.
Sunday is also Father's Day and the first 1,000 Dads/Adults will receive a sleeve of Captains logo baseballs presented by Lake Health. There is a special ticket package for Dads kids to play catch on the field prior to the game. Game time is 1:00 PM.
