EASTLAKE, OH -  South Bend batted around and scored six runs in the top of the third inning and went on the beat Lake County 8-1. The Silver Hawks (34-19) batted around in the inning and used six hits to plate the six runs. Stryker Trahan hit a two-run homer, which capped the inning. The Silver Hawks have won the first two games of the three game series against the Captains.

Lake County (18-36) scored a run in the bottom of the third inning. Grant Fink singled and moved to second on a single from Brian Ruiz. The throw to first to try and retire Ruiz sailed down the right field line allowing Fink to score and Ruiz to get to second base. The score was 6-1 South Bend.

South Bend scored two runs in the ninth inning off Alexis Paredes to add the icing to the cake. The Captains committed an error, which led to a run. The Silver Hawks also scored a run on a wild pitch. The score was 8-1.

RHP Caleb Hamrick (1-3) started for Lake County and took the loss. Hamrick pitched four innings and allowed six earned runs on eight hits he walked two and struck out one. Kerry Doane entered in the fifth. Doane pitched four innings of shutout baseball. LHP Hector Hernandez (3-0) started for South Bend earned the win. Hernandez pitched seven innings. Hernandez allowed one unearned run on two hits, one walk and he fanned nine. Bud Jeter pitched a scoreless eighth for South Bend. Jake Roberts finished the game off by pitching the ninth inning for South Bend.

The Captains will remain home in Eastlake, OH on Friday to conclude a six-game home stand. The South Bend Silver Hawks are in town for the final game of a three-game set. The Captains will start RHP Mitch Brown (0-6, 5.20) and the Hawks will counter with RHP Blayne Weller (2-3, 4.93). First Pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM from Classic Park.

Friday will be a Fireworks Friday Night presented by Universal Windows Direct and 92.3 FM The Fan and will feature fireworks set to the music of Journey. Game time is 6:30.

During Friday’s game the Captains will salute the movie Ghostbusters. Fans can take photos and meet the Ghostbusters of Northeast Ohio and the Ghostbusters Cleveland Chapter. There will be Ghostbusters-themed in-game promotions, trivia and music throughout the night. Fans can also take photos with a Ghostbusters’ replica vehicle that will be on display in the stadium.
