The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have selected the contract of right-handed reliever Preston Guilmet from Triple-A Columbus and have optioned right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco to Columbus. To make room on the 40-man roster for Guilmet, the Indians transferred catcher Lou Marson from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL.

Guilmet, 25, has spent the year at AAA Columbus where he has gone 2-4 with 16 saves and a 2.32 ERA in 34 relief outings (42.2IP, 34H, 11ER, 12BB, 50K). He has limited Triple-A hitters to a .207 (34-164) average against and has fanned 10.55 batters per 9.0IP this season.  He is currently 2nd in the International League in saves (16) and was selected to the Triple-A All-Star Game.  On the season has limited right-handed hitters to a .167 (15-90) average against.

Carrasco has been a disappointment this season going 0-4 with a 9.10 ERA in 6 starts (28.2IP, 47H, 29ER) with Cleveland. With his departure the Indians will need a starter for Thursday's afternoon tilt with the Blue Jays, and that start could very well go to Danny Salazar. Salazar is pitching well and pitched on Saturday for Columbus, so he would be in line to pitch on normal rest this coming Thursday.
