According to a report from Jon Morosi of Fox Sports, Cleveland Indians outfielder Shin-Soo Choo is not expected to play for his South Korea team in the World Baseball Classic this spring.

Choo's agent Scott Boras says that Choo will use the opportunity to focus and prepare for his 2013 season. He is in his last arbitration year and heading for a big payday next offseason, so Choo and Boras feel that it is best to not disturb what is going to be an important spring for him.

There is also a chance Choo could be traded this offseason, so he might also need the time to acclimate himself to a new team.

With Choo as the major star on the team, South Korea made it to the semi-finals of the World Baseball Classic in 2006 and in 2009 lost in the finals to Japan in 10 innings.
