Chris Perez being investigated by police for drug possession
According to reports, Cleveland Indians closer Chris Perez is being investigated by Rocky River police for drug possession. No official arrest has been made, and it is believed to be for possession of marijuana.
Details are still coming in but the Indians have released the following statement:
“Earlier this morning we were made aware of a situation involving right-handed pitcher Chris Perez that occurred yesterday in Rocky River,” Cleveland Indians GM Chris Antonetti said. “We have talked with Chris and are currently in the process of gathering additional information. We will not have any additional comment at this time.”
Perez is currently on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder injury. He also recently deleted his Twitter account after a severe backlash from fans after his recent struggles, a backlash that stems from his calling out the fans last season for poor attendance. In 16.2 innings this season he has a 4.32 ERA and is six for eight in save opportunities.
