Cleveland Sports Insiders: 9/29/12
September 29, 2012
Share via: Share: Facebook Share: Twitter Share: Google Share: Pinterest Share: Print Share: Email is proud to introduce their new weekly foray into Cleveland Sports, Cleveland Sports Insiders. It joins the cyberwaves tonight from 10:30pm – 11:30pm EST. The one hour show is hosted by Jim Pete and Steve Orbanek, and will air every Saturday.

It's been an eventful week in the world of Cleveland sports. The Cleveland Indians made headlines toward the end of this week when it was announced that Tribe manager Manny Acta had been fired. In this three years as skipper, Acta's record of 214-266 was less than stellar, but was he ever really given much to work with? Jim and Steve both touched on some of their thoughts in columns on IPI this week, but the boys will be sure to readdress the situation tonight on CSI.

Plus, if one manager is fired, that can only mean one thing: a replacement is on the way. Jim and Steve will touch on who they think should be the Indians manager next season whether or not the Indians even have a chance at attaining that person.

It also wouldn't be CSI without some good old Browns talk, and there is plenty to talk about after the Browns fell 23-16 to the Ravens Thursday and now sit at 0-4. Yet, despite the loss, the Browns again put together a pretty encouraging performance. One might say that it could be dubbed a "moral victory," but at this point, how many "moral victories" must the Browns endure? Are there any signs that the team is moving in the right direction? Jim and Steve will be sure to offer their take.

Also, this week's hot topic looks at Cleveland and influential athletes. Despite the city's lack of professional success, there have been numerous sports icons in the city's history, and Jim and Steve are prepared to debate them all and also offer their individual takes on just who is the must influential of all. From Bob Feller to Otto Graham to Jim Brown to the "Unspeakable one," there are plenty of options out there to choose from.

All this and more tonight when CSI goes live at 10:30 p.m. Week four of CSI... is nearly here...

For those that are subscribed to the Smoke Signals feed through iTunes, you will also now be getting two new shows included in that feed. Every Sunday “The Inside Pitch” runs for a half hour from 7:00-7:30PM EST and is hosted by IPI site contributors Jeff Ellis and Andrew Zajac. The show will have a strong focus on fantasy baseball, but will also cover other topics surrounding MLB and the Indians from time to time. Tonight's show, Cleveland Sports Insiders hosted by IPI site co-editors Jim Pete and Steve Orbanek will be focusing on Cleveland Sports. Of course, the IPI staple, Smoke Signals, hosted by site owner Tony Lastoria and Jim Pete, remains on Tuesday Night from 10:00 to 11:00 through the remainder of the season.
