Cleveland Sports Insiders: 9/8/12
September 8, 2012
Share via: Share: Facebook Share: Twitter Share: Google Share: Pinterest Share: Print Share: Email is proud to introduce their new weekly foray into Cleveland Sports, Cleveland Sports Insider. It joins the cyberwaves tonight from 10:30pm – 11:30pm EST. The one hour show is hosted by Jim Pete and Steve Orbanek, and will air every Saturday.

The Cleveland Browns open up another season tomorrow afternoon against the Philadelphia Eagles, whom they played in week three of the preseason. the Vick-less Eagles dominated the Browns in that game, but what do you really get to see in a preseason game? Brandon Weeden and Trent Richardson will get their first look together in a game, and get their first taste of regular season football, as the young Browns hope to improve upon previous season's disappointments. Steve and Jim will take a look at the Browns roster, and talk about their fortunes for the 2012 season, with a new owner in place. They'll also discuss Art Modell's legacy with the Browns, and whether or not doing ANYTHING for him during Sunday's game is the appropriate thing for the Browns to do.

The Cavs are starting to gear up for the 2012/2013 season, and will be looking to improve upon a strike-shortened season that saw them struggle down the stretch. They'll have one of the youngest rosters in the league, but should be exciting, as Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson enter their second seasons, and 2012 first rounders, Tyler Zeller and Dion Waiters get their first looks in a Cavs uniform. Was Waiters the right pick, and was Zeller a steal at #17?

The Indians have made several call-ups. Is there a hidden gem in there for the Indians to find, or are we just treading water for an offseason in which the Indians will begin another arduous rebuilding process. Chris Perez also slammed ownership for their lack of effort in adding to this club. Will he be long for Cleveland, and at this point, does it even matter?

For those that are subscribed to the Smoke Signals feed through iTunes, you will also now be getting two new shows included in that feed. Every Sunday “The Inside Pitch” runs for a half hour from 7:00-7:30PM EST and is hosted by IPI site contributors Jeff Ellis and Andrew Zajac. The show will have a strong focus on fantasy baseball, but will also cover other topics surrounding MLB and the Indians from time to time. Tonight's show, Cleveland Sports Insiders hosted by IPI site co-editors Jim Pete and Steve Orbanek will be focusing on Cleveland Sports. Of course, the IPI staple, Smoke Signals, hosted by site owner Tony Lastoria and Jim Pete, remains on Tuesday Night from 10:00 to 11:00 through the remainder of the season.
