Clippers rally to take out Red Sox in extra inning thriller

PAWTUCKET, RI - Free baseball at McCoy Stadium where the Columbus Clippers took on the Pawtucket Red Sox. Clippers wrapped up the win 2-1, furthering their lead in the International League West Standings. Columbus holds on to their No. 1 spot above the Indianapolis Indians with the win.
Kyle Davies started on the bump for Columbus. Davies put out six innings, giving up one run on five hits and fanning six of the Red Sox.
Bottom of the fourth and Davies let up a double out to left field. With a runner on second and two outs a soft grounder to first baseman Jesus Aguilar led to a throwing error by Aguilar to bring in the first run of the game. Pawtucket left the inning with a one run lead on Columbus.
With only one run on the board Columbus made a rally into the eighth. With one out Carlos Moncrief belted a single line drive into right field to reach base. Elliot Johnson followed suit with a single of his own.
Luke Carlin's only hit of the night came at a perfect time, a single sending Moncrief home to score the tying run and keep the Clippers into the game.
Into extra innings top of the eleventh and Columbus wrapped things up. With one out Giovanny Urshela reached second on a throwing error. Zach Walters came through with the winning RBI, a single clear to right field sending Urshela on home.
Columbus will continue their lengthy ten game road trip with three more games in Pawtucket.
