Columbus Clippers beat Louisville Bats 1-0 in pitchers' duel
LOUISVILLE, Ky. –– The Columbus Clippers topped the Louisville Bats 1-0 on their first night in town. The win did little for Columbus in the standings as the Indianapolis Indians still sit one game ahead of it in the International League West standings.
Jose Ramirez led off the game with a frozen rope out to center field to head to first. Ramirez stole second with Tyler Holt batting for his nineteenth of the season. Holt then came through with a single to move Ramirez on to third.
With runners on the corners Jesus Aguilar's sac-fly brought Ramirez in to home, scoring he only run of the game.
On the defensive end Gabriel Arias came through with a dominating performance for the Clippers. Arias went 7.2 innings with six hits and fanned two of the Louisville Sluggers.
Mark Lowe came in in relief and kept the Bats closed down. Lowe went 1.1 IP without a single hit and earned his 15th save for the season.
The Clippers are scheduled to remain in Louisville for three more games before returning to the confines of Huntington Park to face off against the Norfolk Tides.
