Columbus Clippers beat Toledo, 3-1, Trevor Bauer fans nine
TOLEDO, Ohio – After being kept off the field for two days due to weather, the Clippers came back looking well rested to face the Toledo Mud Hens
Columbus came out on top, winning 3-1 Wednesday, after taking the lead early against Toledo.
The Clippers made their mark on the board immediately in the first inning. With one out and runners on second and third, Jesus Aguilar's fly to right dropped for a single, scoring Tim Fedroff.Carlos Moncrief stepped in the box next and sent a rope to right field, bringing the second run of the game in to score.
Starter Trevor Bauer kept the Mud Hens offense at bay. Bauer showed consistency on the mound with another strong outing, going six innings with five hits and no runs. The most impressive stat from the righty was his nine strikeouts with a single walk.
Toledo's run came in the ninth after Mark Lowe got the call. Lowe gave up two hits and a run before fanning the last batter to end the game and earn the save.
The Clippers improved to 4-7 and are scheduled remain in Toledo for one more game before returning to Huntington Park. Friday kicks off a seven game home stretch, including a doubleheader Saturday with the Mud Hens.
