TRAVERSE CITY, MI— The Traverse City Beach Bums and Lake Erie Crushers will face off one last time this year, making Thursday’s game the most important meeting.  The Crushers scored 12 runs in the final three innings to finish the Beach Bums 13-3 and force a Game 5 in the Divisional Series of the Frontier League playoffs.

Traverse City used early offense once again as they scored two runs in the first three innings and led 3-1 heading into the 7th.  Chase Burch put the Beach Bums on top first with an RBI single to score Carlo Testa in the opening frame.  Two innings later, Jose Vargas took Mickey Jannis deep with his second home run of the playoffs.  In the 6th, Burch added another run with a solo blast to make it 3-1.

The Crushers produced five runs all on two outs in the 7th inning.  With runners at the corners, Daniel Bowman singled to plate Max Casper for the first Crusher run since the 2nd inning.  Two batters later, Andrew Davis sent a grand slam over the left field wall to give Lake Erie its first lead of the day 6-3.

The Crushers offense continued in the 8th inning on a pair of two-run blasts.  Craig Hertler matched the amount of homers on the season with a two-run long ball.  After a walk to Seth Granger, Daniel Bowman went deep making it 10-3 Crushers.

Lake Erie scored three runs in the top of the 9th on four singles from Russell Moldenhauer, Juan Sanchez, Casper, and Granger.

Jannis (1-0) earned the win allowing three runs on six hits through six innings, striking out seven.  Chris Squires (0-1) suffered the loss being charged with three runs through 0.2 innings.

The Beach Bums and Crushers will settle things once and for all at All Pro Freight Stadium on Thursday.  The game will be played at 7:05 PM
