Frazier, Captains walk-off to beat Silver Hawks, 5-4

EASTLAKE, OH - Clint Frazier hit a walk-off single through the left side and the Captains beat the Silver Hawks 5-4. In the 12th, trailing 4-2, the Captains had two runners on and one out and then Dorssys Paulino laced a double off the wall which scored both runners and tied the score at 4-4. Paulino went to third on the throw, after two walks Clint Frazier was the hero. The Captains improve to 6-2 in extra innings. 9,407 fans watched the game the largest crowd at Classic Park since 2004.
South Bend scored a run in the top of the third inning. Breland Almadova, and Andrew Velazquez walked to begin the inning. Jamie Westbrook laced a double down the left field line and the Hawks led 1-0. The Captains tied the ballgame when Torsten Boss smacked his first homerun of the season way over the right field wall and the ballgame was tied at 1-1.
South Bend (34-20) grabbed the lead in the top of the eighth inning. Michael Perez hit his third homerun of the season a solo shot which hit the scoreboard in right center field. The Silver Hawks led 2-1.
Lake County (19-37) tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. Eric Hasse laced his fourth triple of the season to center field to lead off the inning. Anthony Santander hit a sacrifice fly to center field and the Haase beat the throw to the plate and the ballgame was tied at 2-2.
South Bend scored two in the top of the 12th inning. In the inning the Silver Hawks used three hits, a sacrifice bunt and an error to plate the two runs. Headed to the bottom of the 12th the Silver Hawks led 4-2.
RHP Mitch Brown (0-6) started for Lake County and did not get a decision. Brown allowed one earned run on three hits he walked five and walked three. LHP Matt Whitehouse (1-2) entered in relief. Whitehouse pitched five innings and allowed one run on three hits. Whitehouse walked two and fanned five. Matt allowed the homer to Perez. Trevor Frank (2-2) entered in the eleventh inning. Frank pitched two innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits, one walk and he struck out three. Frank earned the win.
RHP Blayne Weller (2-3) started for South Bend and didn’t get a decision. Weller pitched six and one third inning. He allowed three hits, one earned one walk and he struck out nine. Will Laconte pitched two thirds of an inning and struck out one. Daniel Gibson pitched one third of an inning, one hit and two walks. Silvino Bracho entered with the bases loaded and one out in the eighth inning. Bracho got out of the jam with no damage. Bracho, came back out for the ninth inning and allowed the triple to Haase and the Captains to tie the game. The run was the first Bracho allowed all season. Steve Hathaway entered in the tenth inning and pitched two and one third innings. John Shuttlesworth (0-1) allowed the walk-off hit to Frazier and took the loss.
The Captains will travel on Saturday morning to Midland, Michigan to open a three-game series with the Great Lakes Loons starting on Saturday Night. The opening game of the series will feature RHP Robbie Aviles (1-1, 1.45) starting for the Captains and RHP Greg Harris (4-4, 6.05) getting the nod for the Loons. First Pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM from Dow Diamond.
