The moves I mentioned yesterday of Steven Wright and Jim Deters being promoted from Kinston to Akron have been made official. Shawn Nottingham was reassigned from Akron to Kinston, and right-hander Michael Finocchi was activated from extended spring training and assigned to Kinston. Finocchi was rehabbing from a broken foot.

K-Tribe Wins 4-3

The Kinston Indians won their second game in a row over the Lynchburg Hillcats and their first game of the second half, winning 4-3 Tuesday nightat Historic Grainger Stadium.

The Indians got a run in the fifth inning when Cirilo Cumberbatch plated Jared Goedert on a bloop single. They started out big in the fifth with a leadoff single from Jerad Head. He came around to score on a Beau Mills double down the left field line. It was a hotly contested two-bagger that ended up sending Lynchburg manager Jeff Branson to the clubhouse for arguing the call. Weglarz added a double to score Mills, and then came around to score on a Goedert sacrifice fly. Every K-Tribe player in the lineup had a hit on the night, Niuman Romero went 3-for-4.
Carlton Smith (5-4) bounced back from two straight losses, pitching seven scoreless innings, giving up four hits and striking out four for his fifth win. K-Tribe reliever Sung-Wei Tseng loaded the bases on three straight singles in the ninth, but Luis Perdomo came in and nailed things down for his CL-leading 16th save.

Kinston goes for their second win of the first half and third win in a row when they take the field Wednesday night. Jeanmar Gomez takes the hill for the K-Tribe in a 7:00 start at Historic Grainger Stadium.
