Columbus Blows Lead, Win

Columbus shutout Louisville through five innings, and took a 4-0 lead into the top of the 6th inning on Monday night. Lefty David Huff pitched well, but seemed to tire in the 6th when he allowed two runs. On the night he put up a quality start going 6 innings and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits, 2 walks and had 4 strikeouts.

He turned a 4-2 lead over to the bullpen in the 7th inning, but John Meloan could not hold onto the lead as he allowed three runs to allow Louisville to take a 5-4 lead. The Clippers came right back with two runs in the bottom of the 8th to take a 6-5 lead going into the 9th inning, with the big hits of the inning being RBI singles from Josh Barfield and David Dellucci. Dellucci is on a rehab assignment with Columbus and was the designated hitter in the game.

Matt Herges was given a 6-5 lead in the 9th to close out, but like the Cleveland bullpen of late and Meloan earlier in the game, he couldn't hold onto the lead and allowed two runs for the final margin.

Matt LaPorta, Jordan Brown, Andy Cannizaro, and Barfield all had two hits and an RBI in the game.
