Triple-A Columbus right-handed reliever Frank Herrmann got the news this afternoon from manager Mike Sarbaugh that he has been called up to Cleveland. He will board a flight from Columbus to Chicago and join the team in the windy city tomorrow and be in uniform for the game tomorrow (Friday) night when the Indians take on the Chicago White Sox.

Herrmann, who just turned 26-years old last weekend, will be making his Major League debut. His call up to Cleveland is well deserved as in 19 appearances for Columbus he was 3-0 with a 0.31 ERA and in 28.2 innings allowed just 15 hits, 8 walks, and had 22 strikeouts. Opposing batters were hitting just .156 against him, and he leaves Columbus in the midst of a 27.2 inning consecutive shutout streak.

Herrmann has seen his fastball velocity increase this year as he has consistently been at 93-96 MPH, and his slider and the splitter he picked up last year have been much improved. There is no word whose spot on the 25-man roster he will be taking, but considering he was not on the 40-man roster and needs to be added a player will have to be removed from the 40-man roster. The likely candidates would be Jamey Wright, Shelley Duncan, Andy Marte, Rafael Perez, Shane Lindsay and even Hector Ambriz.
