Once the White Sox declined the $13 million club option on infielder Kevin Youkilis several days ago, the Indians were expected to be a heavy suitor for him this offseason because of their interest in him in a trade last June and with the arrival of new manager Terry Francona.

It appears that is indeed the case as Jon Morosi of Fox Sports is reporting that the Indians, Dodgers, and Phillies are already showing preliminary interest in Youkilis, and other teams are interested as well.

Youkilis would fill a need for the Indians as he is a right-handed hitter with experience hitting in the middle of the order, and he is versatile where he can play first base, third base, and designated hitter. He is expected to get a two year deal in free agency for around $8-9 million per season.
