Indians recall Tomlin, option Holt and release Morgan

The Cleveland Indians today announced they have recalled right-handed pitcher Josh Tomlin from Triple-A Columbus and optioned outfielder Tyler Holt to Columbus. They also Activated outfielder Nyjer Morgan from the 60-day DL and released him.

Tomlin begins his second stint with Cleveland for his start tonight against the Cincinnati Reds in Progressive Field.  Josh was in the rotation from May 6-July 25, going 5-7 with a 4.47 ERA in 15 games/14 starts (86.2IP, 93H, 53R/43ER, 10BB, 77K). Around his stint in Cleveland he owns a record of 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA in 6 starts for Triple-A Columbus (40.0IP, 26H, 10R/ER, 10BB, 33K, .191AVG), the most recent of which came on July 31 vs. Louisville (5.0IP, 4H, 2R/ER, 1BB, 4K).

Morgan has been on the disabled list since May 14th and has been recovering from a right knee injury.

JT is in danger of becoming a batting practice pitcher. What he needs most is a brain trahsplant. Throwing hamburger to even the most lowly major leaguer can quickly become a 3 R HR.

Tomlin vs Cueto, the stats aren't in our favor, but that is why they play the games.
