Johnson's four RBI night leads Clippers to 9-4 win
Elliot Johnson's four RBI night led the Clippers to a 9-4 win over the Mud Hens, one night after clinching the International League West.
With Toru Murata (4-3) on the mound a ground-rule double in the first put Toledo up 1-0 going into the second.
The lead was short lived as in the top of the second Johnson sent a ball deep into center field bringing both Matt Carson and Carlos Moncrief home to score.
In the bottom of the second the back and forth continued when Toledo tied things up with a long ball out to right field.
In the top of the fourth Justin Sellers racked up three RBI on a double, boosting the Clippers to a 5-2 lead. Then Jesus Aguilar brought in two runs with a double to tack on to the Clippers lead.
The Clippers were not done there coming back for more in the fifth. Johnson's sac-fly accounted for his third RBI and gave Columbus a six run lead heading into the bottom of the fifth.
Toledo made a last ditch effort late in the fifth putting two more runs on the board off of Murata.
The rally would not be enough, Clippers added one more run in the seventh thanks to Johnson and finished off the game winning 9-4.
With the IL West officially belonging to the Clippers, Columbus will now just need to finish off the final five games of the season before the playoffs.
