The Cleveland Indians today announced that they have activated second baseman Jason Kipnis from the 15-day Disabled List and have optioned infielder Justin Sellers to Triple-A Columbus.

Kipnis has been on the 15-day DL since April 30 after injuring his right oblique during a fourth inning at bat on April 29 vs. the Los Angeles Angels. At the time of his injury the 2013 American League All-Star was hitting .234 (22-94) with 12 runs scored, 6 doubles, 3 home runs and 12 RBI in 27 games (.354OB/.394SLG/.748OPS). He was tied for sixth in the A.L. in walks (17) prior to the transaction. Jason recently spent three games (1-9, HR, 3RBI) on a rehab assignment with AAA Columbus, May 23-26.
