Lake County Captains beat Fort Wayne, 8-7

(Eastlake, OH)-Clint Frazier had three hits and knocked in three runs as the Captains went on to beat Fort Wayne by a final of 8-7. Fraizer fell a homer shy of the cycle, however he also scored two runs. The Captains have won three straight ballgames. 

Lake County took the early lead. In the bottom of the first inning with two runners in scoring position and Mike Papi singled both runners home. The score was 2-0 Captains. Lake County tacked on two more in the bottom of the second inning. With two outs and a runner on third base, Ivan Castillo pushed a bunt past the mound and the runner from third scored. Clint Frazier then tripled home Castillo and the score was 4-0 Captains after two innings.

In the top of the third inning, Fort Wayne tied the game. With two outs, Ronnie Richardson singled, and then Fernando Perez hit a two run homer to the lawn in left center and the score was 4-2 Captains. Franmil Reyes then singled and Jake Bauers tied the game with a two run homer to right field and the game was evened at 4-4.

Lake County scored two more runs in the fifth inning. Four straight hits including RBI’s from Clint Frazier and Nellie Rodriguez and the score was 6-4 Lake County. The Captains tacked on two more in the sixth inning on a sac fly and an error. The score was 8-4 Captains.

Fort Wayne scored a pair in the top of the seventh inning. With the bases loaded and nobody out, Ronnie Richardson singled home a pair and the score was 8-6. Fort Wayne added a run in the eighth inning to make the score 8-7, which was the final.

LHP Luis Lugo (8-9) was the starting pitcher for Lake County and pitched five and one third innings. Lugo allowed seven hits, four earned runs, one walk and he fanned six. Lugo earned the win. Alexis Paredes pitched two thirds of an inning and he allowed three hits, two earned runs, a walk and two strikeouts. Robbie Aviles pitched two innings and allowed one unearned run, one walk and one strikeout. Carlos Melo pitched the ninth inning to earn his third save of the season.

LHP Jeffery Enloe (2-7) started the game for the TinCaps. Enloe pitched four innings eight hits, six earned runs, one walk and four strikeouts. Enloe took the loss. Fort Wayne used three pitchers to finish off the game. 

Lake County will continue a brief three-game home stand on Friday. The Captains will play against the Fort Wayne TinCaps. Lake County will give the ball to RHP Mitch Brown (6-8, 3.48) and the TinCaps will counter with RHPRonald Herrera (6-8, 3.88). First Pitch will be at 7:00 PM from Classic Park in Eastlake, OH.

Friday is the final Firework’s Friday Night presented by Universal Windows Direct with the fireworks show featuring a Jimmy Buffett music soundtrack. Game time is 7 PM.

The Captains final post-game concert is on Friday with HappyMon performing on the stage adjacent to Corona’s Castaway Bar.  HappyMon will bring the sounds of the islands to Classic Park and fill the night with plenty of Jimmy Buffett classics as well as many other island music favorites.

What is Frazier's jersey number. I was at the game and he is listed in the program as #20 but I didn't see any 20 playing.
