Lake County falls 4-3 in rain-shortened contest

After six victories in a row, The Captains had a rough start Saturday night against The Whitecaps. West Michigan held on to the lead and beat Lake County 4-3, snapping The Captains winning streak. 

The second inning was when it all started for The Whitecaps, scoring four runs to start the game off strong. Runs came fromJason KingConnor HarrellAdolfo Reina and David Gonzalez

The Captains tried to rally in the bottom of the fourth, scoring three runs from Joe SeverErik Gonzalez and Joe Sever, but they couldn’t capitalize on any other opportunities throughout the game. 

The fifth inning was scoreless and the beginning of the sixth was as well until the rain delay. 

The Captains and The Whitecaps played through five and two thirds innings before a torrential downpour started and the game was delayed. The delay lasted for about an hour before the game was called and The Whitecaps captured the 4-3 victory. 

The Captains continue their home series against The Whitecaps on Sunday with a 1:30pm start at Classic Park.
