The Cleveland Indians placed right-hander Zach McAllister on the 15-day DL with a right middle finger sprain and recalled right-hander Carlos Carrasco from Triple-A Columbus Saturday. McAllister's injury was first reported earlier in the week and's Jordan Bastian tweets that this is not the same situation as when Adam Miller and Alex White saw their careers derailed.

Calling up Carrasco now and starting him today will allow him to pitch while appealing his suspension for throwing at New York Yankees third baseman Kevin Youkilis in his first and only major league start in 2013 on April 9. With an day off scheduled for  Thursday, the rotation can skip his spot and pitch on normal rest without needing another starter.

Carrasco will likely serve his eight-game suspension starting Sunday, putting him on track to return to the active roster on June 18. As Bastian notes, that is the same day McAllister will be available to come off of the DL.

Cleveland's rotation is now Carrasco today, Justin Masterson on Sunday, Scott Kazmir on Monday, Corey Kluber on Tuesday, and Ubaldo Jimenez on Wednesday.

Trevor bauer has an ERA of over 4.50. Another player move that looked good in December but when the games started isn't.

Cincinnati clearly is getting the better end of the trade

Ron, Jim explained why in the article. It allows him to serve his suspension without the Indians needing another starter.

The surprise is why not Trevor Bauer?

I know he is working on his pitch selection and the timing is right for Carlos Carrasco to get his 8 game suspension taken care of.

It is just surprising that it has taken Trevor Bauer this long to get to Cleveland.

If anyone has commentary on the progress of Trevor Bauer, it would be appreciated.

Thank you all for your coverage of the current draft. I have enjoyed your coverage greatly on the front page, news and the message board.
