Yesterday: The Clippers were held to three hits in the 3-0 shutout by Syracuse…Columbus led off the night with a single from SS ANDY CANNIZARO, but Chiefs’ righty Garrett Mock retired the next 21 batters en route to a complete game…Cannizaro, LF JORDAN BROWN and 3B NIUMAN ROMERO had the only Columbus hits…RHP JACK CASSEL allowed three runs (2ER) on nine hits in his second complete game of the season…The Clippers have lost six straight and 10 of the last 12 games.

News & Notes: OF JORDAN BROWN has hit safely in eight of his last nine, going 12-for-34 (.352) with 3 2B, HR, 3 RBI…In 20 June games, OF/INF MATT LaPORTA is 22-for-75 with 3 2B, 3HR and 11RBI…In the 20 games, he’s reached base safely in 17 of them…RHP VINNIE CHULK has had six straight scoreless outings (5.1IP) and in 12 of 13 games, he hasn’t allowed an ER (14.0IP, 13H, 3R/1ER, 3BB, 11K)…RHP MASA KOBAYASHI hasn’t allowed a run in each of his last five games (5.0IP) and has yielded just three in 10G (11.0IP, 14H, 3R/ER)…LHP ZACH JACKSON is 0-4 with a 5.56ERA in his last four decisions (22.2IP, 34H, 17R/14ER, 8BB, 14K) after winning his previous three with a 0.56ERA (16.0IP, 9H, 4R/1ER, 5BB, 11K)……The Clippers have scored only four runs in the last 28 innings of play.

Tonight at Rochester, 7:05 pm, LHP Zach Jackson (3-6, 4.30) vs. RHP Anthony Swarzak (3-4, 2.29).

News & Notes: In June, INF ABNER ABREU is hitting .339 (21-62) with 8 2B, HR, 5RBI and 11RS… INF CHRIS NASH has batted in a run in four straight games batting .333 (6-18) with 3 2B, 4RBI and 3RSOF DONNIE WEBB leads the league with 9 3B and T-2nd/SAL with 23 SB… RHP MATTHEW LANGWELL has not allowed an ER in the last seven appearances (10.2IP) while striking out 14… RHP ALEXANDER PEREZ has yielded 71.2IP while striking out a team-high 72 batters and has a 2.89ERA… Opponents are batting .205 against him… LHP T.J. Yesterday: The Scrappers continued their winning ways defeating the Spikes, 7-6… The offense was hot early and RHP BRIAN GRENING was able to close the door to earn his 2nd save… RF STEPHEN HEAD banged a much needed insurance run with his 1st HR of the season resulting as the game winning run… 9th rounder in the 2009 draft, RHP PRESTON GUILMET made his professional debut yielding 4.0 shutout innings while ringing five… 4th rounder 3B KYLE BELLOWS went 2-4 with a RS… 14th rounder SS KYLE SMITH went 2-4 with 2RBI.

News & Notes: OF JOHN ALLMAN has started red-hot batting .500 (7-14) with 3 2B, 6RBI and 3RS… 6th round pick INF BEN CARLSON is hitting .333 (4-12) with a RBI… 14th round pick INF KYLE SMITH is batting .571 (4-7) with 3RBI, 2RS… 19th round pick LHP NICK KIRK struck out seven in his first professional career yielding 3.1IP allowing a run.

Yesterday: The Indians earned their first victory of the season in dominant fashion by shutting out the Padres, 6-0… RHP ALEXANDER MORALES making a comeback from a season-long left knee ACL reconstruction injury from the 2008 season threw 5.0IP while ringing eight…RHP CARLOS MONCRIEF followed and was lights out as he struck out the side throwing 2.0 innings…33rd round pick 3B CHRIS KERSTEN came through with his 1st HR of his professional career and went 2-4 with 2RS and 2RBI… RF DARLING READ had a tremendous offensive night going 3-3 with a 2B and a BB.

Today vs. AZL Royals, 10:00pm, LHP Francisco Jimenez (0-0, --) will make his season debut.
