Oy of my biggest pet peeves right there. Is people who report on baseball and don't even understand the compensation process or the correct terminology when it comes to payroll, bonus pools and such.

I still think Samardizija is a guy the Indians could target in a trade...

You just hope that Carrasco can salvage the Lee deal to some extent as Brantley largely has for the Sabathia deal. For the considerable trades the Indians have made over the years, those two trades haven't worked out as well as expected. In fact, arguably, we got as much or more out of the Jimenez deal than we've gotten out of the Lee deal, and as much or close to what we got from the Sabathia deal (ONLY because of Brantley would the Sabathia deal outdo the Jimenez deal).

Really, the Sabathia and Lee trades should have netted us more, but unfortunately, guys like LaPorta faltered (had concerns about him being overhyped when we got him) and Knapp really shouldn't have even been traded for- didn't he have that shoulder issue before the Indians acquired him? And, I remember it was talked about that Knapp was the real key to the deal, not Carrasco, when that trade was made. Let's just hope Carrasco can make it salvageable to decent like Brantley has to an extent with the Sabathia deal.

Indians really were not interested. Remember, they released him a year and a half ago. He needed a third shoulder surgery. Not sure if he ever had it (he didn't while with the Indians).

Wonder why the Indians did not offer Knapp a minor league deal?
