AKRON, OH - Akron starter Shawn Morimando did not disappoint in his Double-A debut, pitching six scoreless innings against the Harrisburg Senators on Friday evening at Canal Park, contributing to the Ducks’ 10-0 shutout victory.  

Morimando joins the Akron pitching staff, which currently leads the EL with a collective ERA of 3.11. During his six innings on the bump, Morimando (1-0, 0.00) earned the win for the Ducks, allowing five hits, one walk, and striking out six Senators. Of his 89 pitches, an impressive 61 were strikes. 

The RubberDucks scored the 10 runs on 13 hits and have scored 26 runs on 30 hits over the last two games.

The Ducks put six runs on the board in the third, with Bryson Myles highlighting the inning with a three-run double. Tony Wolters tacked on a RBI, batting Myles in, and Justin Toole sent two additional runners across the plate. Overall on the inning, Akron sent 11 men up to bat, and stranded two runners on base. 

Myles earned four RBI in Thursday evening’s 16-4 win over Bowie, making seven overall in his last two appearances. 

Ronny Rodriguez recorded a RBI-double in the fourth, extending Akron’s lead to 9-0. The double was Rodriguez’s fourth in his last two outings for the Ducks. He went 4-for-5 on the night, and marked his third-consecutive multi-hit game. 

Tyler Naquin has gone 7-for-10 over his last two games for the RubberDucks. 

Akron relievers Enosil Tejeda and J.C. Ramirez completed the game, solidifying the Akron shutout. 

Harrisburg starter Brad Meyers (1-3, 7.32) earned the loss for the Sens, allowing eight runs, seven earned, and walking three batters.

The RubberDucks will take on Harrisburg Saturday at 6:35 PM for the second-game of the series at Canal Park. Right-hander Cody Anderson (2-3, 4.35) will start for Akron, and lefty Sammy Solis (0-1, 21.60) will take the mound for the Senators.
